My focus this morning is upon our two crape-mrytle
bushes - beautiful red blossoms are opening up on
the taller bush and delicate pink blossoms can be seen
in clusters on the smaller bush. For days I have been
waiting for the buds on our bushes to blossom out
A few days ago the Lord gave us a good, soaking rain; the
very next day I noticed a few blossoms began opening up.
I move my lawn chair just far enough
away so that the entire tree could be seen. I am not
the only one who had been waiting for the blossoms
to open up. I am intrigued as I watch the little bees
come again and again to drink nectar from the center
of the blossoms.
I am reminded that God's Word is to us as the nectar is
to the bees. Psalm 19:9-10 says, "The judgments of the
Lord are righteous altogether. .....Sweeter also than honey
and the honeycomb." Psaknm 119:103 " How sweet
are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my
mouth". Psalm 34:8 " Oh taste and see that the Lord is good
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him". Have you tasted of
the Lord's goodness in your life? Is HIs Word so sweet
to your soul? He wants us to have an eager appetite for
His Word even as the bees have an eagerness for the
nectar in the blossoms...it is there very life. Even so
God's Word is life to us
I remember listening to the record by the New Creation Singers. One of their songs was from Psalms 119:7-10 (KJV):
ReplyDeleteThe law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Funny, it was just yesterday that I was remembering another record of long ago, recorded by Danny, Kathy, and Patsy. I wondered if they had each saved the record they had recorded. And if so, if they had saved a record player to play their record on :)
The particular song from their record that I had been thinking of went like this: So let the dark clouds roll, the thunder roar, they won't worry me. For I'm safe within the arms of God. He walks with me and nothing shall alarm me. For I'm sheltered in the arms of God.
Oops, I think the clouds/thunder stanza should instead read: So let the dark clouds form, the thunder roll...
ReplyDeleteI was trying to remember how The New Creation Singers titled each of their songs. For example, Psalms 119 Song, or Honey?
Thank you for sharing about Psalm 19; also,
ReplyDeleteabout Danny, Kathy and Patsy Holt's record. We do have a copy. Daddy and I listened to it just now. From what we could hear, I think the words are as follows: "so let the thunder crack, the storm clouds rise" ...the rest of the song is as you remembered. I think that the title of one of the New Creation singers is "Sweeter than Honey".
